Obituary for John A. DePalo

John A.  DePalo
Queensbury

John A. DePalo, 67, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital with his family by his side.

Born May 27, 1947 in Glens Falls, NY he was the son of the late Vito and Theresa (Durkin) DePalo.

John was a former member of the Satterlee Hose Company and enjoyed riding Harleys with his Adirondack Chapter friends. John was an umpire for baseball and also coached his daughter’s softball team. He also was a referee for the local soccer teams. John loved to listen to Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles and loved to run in his younger years. He was proud of his Italian heritage, and he loved attending traditional Christmas Eve festivities. Most of all, John cherished his DePalo family, especially his children and grandchildren, and felt that belonging to the DePalo family was close to heaven.

In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by two sisters, Catherine and Mary DePalo, his grandfather, and several aunts and uncles from his DePalo family.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Edward J. DePalo and wife Jessica, daughter, Jennifer L. DePalo-Peterson and husband John, grandchildren, Tara Brianna DePalo, Gianna Mary Ann DePalo, Henry Sherman Peterson, and Reid Edward Peterson, cousins, Mary Lou Plummer, Cathy and Joe DePalo, Sue DePalo, and Mary Joan Baggot-DePalo, aunt Connie DePalo, as well as several other cousins.

Friends may call from 4-6pm on Monday December 1, 2014 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. To view John’s Book of Memories and post online condolences, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the funeral home.

Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fort Edward. Following the committal services, Please bring a dish to pass for a reception at the Fort Edward Emergency Squad, 75 Schuyler Street, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

Donations in John’s memory may be made to the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad, 86 Luzerne Road, Queensbury, NY 12804.

John’s family would like to thank the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad and the staff of the emergency room at Glens Falls Hospital for their care and compassion, and would also like to extend a special thank you to his neighbors for their companionship and care for John.
