Obituary for Marion Leona Rich (Williams)

Marion Leona Rich (Williams)
SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Marion L. (Williams) Rich, 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 10, 1929 in Warwick, MA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Leona (Prentiss) Williams.

On September 8, 1951, she married Gorman H. Rich at the Whitehall United Methodist Church in Whitehall, NY.

Marion worked as a silk maker at both Champlain Spinners and the Troy Shirt Factory. She also worked with her husband Gorman building the family business, Rich Aluminum for many years, as well as selling Christmas trees for over 30 years. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and she always made sure that everyone had a present to open together. Her favorite carol was Silent Night.

Marion enjoyed doing embroidery and spending time on the beach when she and Gorman traveled to Dania Beach, Florida for 35 winters. They also went on many cruises and family trips. She never forgot anyone’s birthday and will always be remembered as a giving person who always took care of everyone else. She loved teaching her grandchildren how to cook and bake, as well as being their greatest cheerleader at all of their school and sports events. Marion, her two daughters, and her granddaughters had many shopping trips and lunches together over the years which were always filled with a lot of laughter. One of her greatest pleasures was watching her son-in-law, Richard Bosford and a special family friend Nancy Ostrander work in the beautiful garden that Gorman grew for her.

Marion was able to fulfill two of her final wishes in that she celebrated her 85th birthday, and she was able to live long enough to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren swim in the pool this past summer. Most of all, Marion was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by her siblings; Norma English, Jeannette A. Williams, Harold Williams, Albert Williams, and an infant brother, Donald Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Gorman H. Rich, her children; Cindy Sheets and her husband William, and Robin Bosford and her husband Richard, her grandchildren; Nicholas Seeley and his wife Leslie, Jennifer Cook and her husband David, Daniel Bosford and his wife Crystal, Dean Bosford and his wife Maria, and Erin Kenyon and her husband Josh, William “Willie” Sheets, and Suzanne Colilla and her husband Dan, her great-grandchildren; Tyler and Hanna Seeley, Connor, Owen, and Avery Cook, Alex, Alana, and Gregory Bosford, Gracie Daggs, and Katherine, Robert, and Fiona Colilla, as well as her siblings; Violet LaRose, Doug Williams, Raymond Williams and his wife Laurie, Louie Williams, Themla Campbell, Shirley Heft, and Barbara Ritchie.
