Obituary for Robert J. VanAnden

Harford

Robert J. Van Anden, 97, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Orchard Nursing center in Granville.

Born on Oct. 30, 1917, in Granville NY, he was the son of the late Robert Louis and Edith (Davis) Van Anden.

Bob was a sergeant in the United States Air Force serving in WWII. He was the owner and operator of the Hartford Garage for many years. He was a member of the Hartford Baptist Church and the Hartford Fish and Game Club and the Herschel-Argyle Lodge #508 Free & Accepted Masons.

On Oct. 17, 1940, Robert married Sylvia Brayton in Broadalbin NY.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife Sylvia (Brayton) Van Anden and his son, John B. Van Anden, his stepfather Wallace Potuznik, brother-in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Norman Brayton, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Brayton and his sister-in-law Mary Brayton.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Raymond Van Anden, and his wife, Linda; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Van Anden; his grandchildren, Robert Van Anden, and his wife, Deborah, Raymond S. Van Anden, Jason Van Anden, and his wife, Hana, Meri Carol Piacquadio, and her husband, Daniel; seven great grandchildren, Kristin, Jeff, and Nate Van Anden, Daniel and Sophia Piacquadio, Anaise and JohnVan Anden; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Rev. Patty Girard of the Hartford Yoked Parish and to Debra Pauquette who cared for Bob at the Holbrook Adult Home, family friend, Peter Klaiber and many neighbors who helped him stay in his home

At Bob’s request there will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11a.m. on Saturday May 16, 2015 at the Morningside cemetery.
