Obituary for Margaret S. Laurson (Seal)

SOUTH GLENS FALLS
Margaret (Peggy) Laurson died on Monday January 19, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital. She was born 90 years ago to Mary and Edgar Seal of Fort Anne.

After beginning her teaching career in Hoosick Falls Central School, she met George Laurson, who had recently returned from active duty in the U. S. Army. They married and raised their three daughters in Glens Falls; Betsy, Susan and Janet. Life was full of camping trips, visits with relatives, jobs, music lessons, swimming lessons and of course, plenty of love. After losing George just before their 25th anniversary, she continued teaching, and put her three girls through college.

Peggy retired from Hudson Falls Central School system, where she touched many a kindergartener's life. She enjoyed the monthly luncheons with her former teaching colleagues.
She was a founding member of the Glens Falls chapter of Habitat for Humanity and remained interested in the group long after her ability to participate ended.

Peggy's faith sustained her. Always positive and determined, she cherished special relationships with her cousins, neighbors, college friends and "sandbox buddies". Our mom's passion for life was never diminished by early widowhood or her loss of sight.

Peggy leaves behind her daughters and their husbands, Betsy and Dave Moynehan, Susan and Jim Willig, and Janet and Jack Murphy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dan Moynehan, Kelly (Doug) Sanford, Keith (Mina) Moynehan, Kate (Todd) DeMatteo and Mark Murphy and his fiancée, Rachel Coffin. Peggy's great-grandsons, Brayden and Callen DeMatteo and Carter and Lex Moynehan were a never-ending source of joy to her. She took great delight in the antics, activities and accomplishments of all of her young family members. She also leaves behind her nephew, nieces and their families.

Peg's spirit will live on in her family's hearts forever, as they recall her stories, humor and common-sense guidance. She will be greatly missed.

A calling hour will be held between 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, 24 January 2015 at Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St, South Glens Falls, with a celebration of Peggy's life to follow at 11:15 a.m.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday June, 6 2015 at the Fort Ann Cemetery.
