Obituary for Joanne C. Forsyth

SOUTH GLENS FALLS
Joanne C. Forsyth of Myron Rd, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 22, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 4, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Jesse Chamberlin.

She was married to George L. Forsyth on February 8, 1944. Joanne spent much of her life raising her 7 children before working at the Boy Scout Office in Glens Falls.

She was involved in many community functions which her children were also involved in. She was a Girl Scout leader for more than 13 years, a den mother, president of the PTA in South Glens Falls, a mentor to young readers at the Moreau Elementary school and was an avid fan at her three boys sports functions for many years.

In addition to her parents, Joanne is predeceased by her husband George L. Forsyth; her companion Tony Johns; and her two sons Roger and Curtis Forsyth.

Left to cherish her memory are, her son George J Forsyth and wife Peggy of NC; her
daughters, Jeanne May and husband Dan of Colorado, Lori Ray and her husband Randy of Saratoga Springs, Joan Denton of Queensbury, Sandy Forsyth who resided with her mom and gave her several years of excellent home care; her grandchildren Jeffrey Forsyth, Kristi Stafford, Thomas Forsyth, Scott and Leanne May, Bill and Michael Ray, Jamie Butts, Warren and Christopher Denton; and 6 great grandchildren; and her faithful furry companions Snoopy, Boots and Mynx.

At Joanne’s request there will be no calling hours. There will be a celebration of Joanne’s life Sunday January 25th from 2-5 pm at her daughter Lori Ray’s residence 116 Chelsea Drive, Saratoga Springs.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.

Donations may be made in her memory to either the SPCA, 588 Queensbury Ave. Queensbury NY 12804, or the Glens Falls Hospital Respiratory Dept., 100 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Arrangements are under the direction of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
