Laura Bessie (Lockwood) Romaine, 89, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at her son’s house surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Richmondville, NY on June 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie (Schaffer) Lockwood.

Laura married the love of her life, Francis D. Romaine, on October 11, 1921. They shared 66 years of marriage, love, and friendship together, and raised their three children.

She worked as a waitress/cook for many years at numerous Albany area restaurants.

Laura enjoyed bingo, camping, her house plants in which she had a green thumb with, vacationing with her family, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her cat Wessie was the love of her life and kept her going. Laura was an excellent cook and looked forward to her Sunday dinners with her family.

Besides her parents and husband, Laura is predeceased by two sisters, Rosemary Jennings and Shirley Bortle.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Anthony Romaine and wife Linda, Frank Romaine Sr. and Janet Byers and husband Lex, grandchildren, Tonya Meade and husband Todd, Tammy Marissal and husband Garrett, Anthony Romaine Jr. and wife Christy, Frank Romaine Jr., Trina Romaine, Laura Byers, Lawrence Saville and wife Nicole, six great grandchildren, siblings, Clifford Lockwood, Frank Lockwood, Marjorie Forte and husband Edward, and Florence Luby and husband Jack, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may from 10am-12pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. To leave online condolences or to view Laura’s Book of Memories, please visit kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A funeral service will be conducted following calling hours at 12 at the funeral home with Rev. Flossie Bates, officiating.

Burial will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Coppens, Cherie Coe and staff, and Tammy, Donna, and Karen from The Community Hospice of Saratoga for their great care of Laura.
