Obituary for Peter "Boomer" Groome
Glens Falls
Peter “Boomer” Groome, 54, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 10, 1960 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of Joseph B. Groome and the late Louise A. Miller.
Peter attended South Glens Falls high school and graduated in the class of 1978. He later was employed for twenty plus years at Victory Specialty Packaging, in Victory Mills, NY.
Peter met his wife and soulmate, Peggy (Parker) Groome twenty six years ago, and they became husband and wife in 2003.
Boomer enjoyed motorcycles, watching NASCAR races, and reading his daily paper with his mother-in-law. He was known in the family as the “prankster” who had a great sense of humor. He loved playing games with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as assembling puzzles with them. He also enjoyed quality time and walks with his son.
In addition to his mother, Peter is also predeceased by his sister in law, Donna Benway.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy (Parker) Groome, his father and his wife, Donna; his mother in law, Viola Parker; his son, Henry Norton, and his wife Becky; his sister, Stacey Groome; brother , Joe Groome and his wife Connie; brother, Russell “Buzzy” Groome and his wife Helen; his sister in law, Darlene and husband Tony Connelly; sister in law, Debbie and her husband David White; his brother in law, Jimmy Parker; his grandsons, Kyle, Tyler and Ethan; his niece, Christy White; niece, Miranda; nephews, Jason and Johnathan; nephews, Robbie and Cory; niece and nephew, Hayley and Nicholas; his niece Stefanie Moore, as well as his best friends, Kevin and Barb Brownell, and his therapist who was more like a brother, Steven Streicher.
At Peter’s request, there will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday February 24, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 155 Ballard Rd. Wilton, NY 12831, with the Rev. Robert Kersten, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
