Obituary for Gerry M. Bodette

Gerry M. Bodette
Gerry Bodette, 73, of South Glens Falls, passed away begrudgingly yet peacefully on February 7 2015, after a courageous battle with uterine cancer that far outlasted doctors’ expectations. She was born to the late LeRoy and Freda Breen on July 4th, 1941 in Glens Falls, New York.

She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy of Glens Falls in 1959. After graduation, she worked as a dental hygienist. In 1964 she and the late Richard H. Bodette were married. They resided in South Glens Falls throughout their marriage with their three children, Stephen, Carol, and Andrew. After Richard’s death in 1982, Gerry studied to become an LPN. She was employed as a faithful nurse to Dr. Richard Leach in Glens Falls for over 25 years and cared dearly for the patients that visited his office.

As a lifelong resident of South Glens Falls, Gerry built her life around her family, her children, and friends in the community. Throughout her life, she created many lasting friendships with her neighbors from Spring Street, Baker Avenue, and Pineview Drive. She spent time volunteering in town, at church, and at her children’s school. She delivered Meals on Wheels, was a Hospice volunteer, and participated in Medical Missions to Guatemala and Honduras. She enjoyed playing tennis, walking, and biking. Gerry also loved spending time at her summer residence on Glen Lake, canoeing, entertaining friends, and watching her children, their friends, and later her grandchildren swim and play.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Stephen, and his wife, Teresa, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and their three daughters, Makenna, Morgan, and Madison; her daughter, Carol, and her husband, Mario Fasulo, of Worcester, Massachusetts and their three daughters, Vincenzia, Gianna, and Alessandria Fasulo; her son, Andrew, and his wife, Amy, of Franktown, Colorado and their sons, Nash and Hudson; her sister, Sharron Connell, and her husband, Gene, along with their family, as well as several cousins.

Gerry’s family would like to thank the many people who visited her throughout her illness, bringing her food and friendship, especially caregivers from High Pikes Hospice and VNA Hospice in Worcester. Appreciation is also extended to the doctors and nurses at the CR Wood Cancer Center for their kind and compassionate care.

Family and friends may call from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday, February 12th at Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St, South Glens Falls. To view Gerry’s Book of Memories and post online condolences, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, February 13th at St. Michael’s Church, 80 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls. There will be a reception hosted by the St. Michael’s Bereavement Committee in the Parish Hall following the mass.

Burial will be at 11am on Wednesday May 13, 2015 in St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry’s memory be made to St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, NY 12803; or to Glens Falls Medical Mission Foundation, PO Box 627, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
