Obituary for William John Casey

SOUTH GLENS FALLS

William J. Casey, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Westmount Health Facility, surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 20, 1926, in Glens Falls, NY he was the son of the late William and Marion (Varney) Casey.

On April 27, 1950, William married the love of his life, Flora N. Duell at the Church of Messiah in Glens Falls. They were married for 55 years before her passing on January 20, 2005.

William was employed as a bus driver for the South Glens Falls School District where he retired after over 35 years of dedicated service. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, and they visited many places such as Germany, Switzerland, Hawaii, and California. They also loved to take shorter day trip. Most of all, William will be remembered for always lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. The greatest joys of his life were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Williams was predeceased by his grandson, Jason Courville.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; William Casey and his wife Lynn, Richard Casey and his wife Linda, Mark Casey and his wife Cindy, Kathleen Laney and her husband Michael, Deborah Schmidt and her husband Peter, and Connie Sullivan and her husband Frank, his grandchildren; John Casey and his wife Lauren, Kelly Gagnon an her husband Nathan, Richard Casey, Christopher Casey and his wife Leah, Amanda Casey, Natascha Hojnacki and her husband Adam, Ashlyn Casey, Lisa Aubrey, Jerry Laney, Kari Laney, Michael Laney and his wife Kristi, Jennifer Cross and her husband Jason, Jessica Urruty and her husband Tony, Michelle Blanchard and her husband Fred, Peter Schmidt and his wife Jeanne, Tara Turner and her husband George, and Kristi Schmidt, 26 great-grandchildren with one arriving in March, and his brother-in-law Gary Duell and his wife Janice.

A funeral service will be conducted immediately following calling hours at 3pm with the Rev. Patti Girard of the Hartford Yoked Parish officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 am on Saturday May 9, 2015 at Southside Cemetery, Town of Moreau.
