Obituary for Loretta Mary Angus

SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Loretta M. Angus, of Wynnfield Drive, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Fort Edward, NY Loretta was the daughter of the late Florence and Thomas Colvin.

Loretta was a kind, unselfish, and generous woman who, if you had her for a friend, was a friend for life. She was a wonderful mother who would do anything for her children. She always placed their well bring above her own. Her love and stability will be sorely missed by her children.

Loretta was an outstanding cook, learning from her Italian mother, grandmother and siblings while growing up in Fort Edward. She continued to cook for her family up until her passing. She loved to watch tennis, swim in her pool and feed her family of squirrels outside her door. In her prime, Loretta was an avid bowler, loved to dance, and was a member of the American Legion for many years. Loretta was a very brave woman who was no coward in the face of death, making light of the fact right up to the day she passed.

Beside her children and grandchildren, Loretta loved her sisters and brothers as well as her many nieces and nephews. She discovered Facebook and was able to enjoy her extended family through pictures and saying hello.

In addition to her parents, Loretta is predeceased by her son Gary Johnson, her brothers, Andrew and Thomas Colvin, and her sisters Catherine Scally, Mary Barlow, and Jeanette Flores.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Gordon Angus of South Glens Falls, sons Andrew Johnson of West Fort Ann, Gus Poulos and his wife Lynda Edgerly of Hudson Falls, her daughter Stacey Angus and her husband Mark Millington of South Glens Falls, her daughter in-law Kathy Johnson of Fort Edward, and her sister Sandra Chilson of Arizona. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Andrew Gus Johnson, Amanda (Johnson) Lathan, Abby Johnson, Michael Johnson, Jacob Poulos, Matthew Poulos, Tyson Poulos, and John Millington; as well as her great grandchildren Justice, Cole, and Zayden. She also leaves behind special friends Francine Chase, Jane and Bob Durkee, and Helen Carpenter.

At Loretta’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 12:30pm on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803, with Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. To leave online condolences or to view Loretta’s Book of Memories, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
