Evelyn M. White, 85 years of age, passed away at her home on Friday, April 3, 2015 with her loving husband and family beside her.

Evelyn was born on June 26, 1929 in Moreau and was the daughter of the late Fred C. Bentley and Irene B. (Fuller) Bentley.

She graduated from Hudson Falls High School and thereafter the Glens Falls Hospital School of Nursing. She was an LPN and employed by both Drs. Joan Durocher and Douglas Provost.

On July 13, 1947, at the age of 18, Evelyn married the love of her life, W. Russell White, in St. Alphonsus Church, with the Rev. Paul LeDuc presiding. They spent over 67 years of their lives together sharing their love and friendship, raising their children, and adoring their extended family of four generations.

Evelyn was a faithful communicant of St. Michael’s Church in South Glens Falls for over 55 years.

In recent years she enjoyed taking trips with her friends at the Moreau Community Center; volunteering her time to the Meals on Wheels program; and most importantly, being an active participant in the sports and activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a member of Elks Lodge #81 in Queensbury.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, W. Russell White; her son, Larry White and his wife, Teri, of Keene, NY; her daughter, Diane Prest, of Panama City Beach, FL; her granddaughters, Reneé Goodman of Queensbury, Stacy O’Leary and her husband, Michael, of Queensbury, and Kelli Suydam and her husband, Ryan, of Manchester, NH; her grandsons, Larry J. White and his wife, Joy, of Fort Ann, Gregory White of Lake George, Tony Prest and his wife, Kelly, of Rotterdam, and Thomas Prest of Denver, CO; as well as her great-grandchildren: Zachary Goodman of New York City; Danielle Goodman of South Glens Falls; Keeghan O’Leary and Devin O’Leary of Queensbury; Myranda Lynch and her husband, Adam, of Fort Ann, Tyler White of Fort Ann and Cooper Suydam of Manchester, NH.

At Evelyn’s request there will are no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 11, 2015 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church in South Glens Falls, with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
