Obituary for Peter Alfred Corlew Sr.

Peter Alfred Corlew Sr.
Fort Edward/Queensbury

Peter Alfred Corlew Sr., 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6th, 2015 after a very brief battle with cancer at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Glens Falls on July 12, 1949, he was the son of Florence (Jarvis) and the late Gordon Corlew.

He was a graduate of Queensbury High School.

In 1968, he married the love of his life Marcia Lee Alden. They spent many years together before her passing in 1980.

Peter worked most of his life as a laborer for Local Union 186 of Plattsburgh.

He enjoyed golf, both as a participant and spectator, long walks, fishing, and was an avid New York Yankees and Jets fan. Peter had a wonderful, if often dry, sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and exhibited this quality right up until his last hours, joking with his family and his nurses. Peter was very grateful for the loving, compassionate care provided by all the staff in the intensive care unit at Glens Falls Hospital. Most importantly, Peter loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

Besides his father he is predeceased by his two brothers, Kevin Corlew and Michael G. Corlew.

Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Florence Corlew, children, Carol Abbattisti and husband Mark of Queensbury, Peter A. Corlew Jr. of Fort Ann, and Michael C. Corlew and wife Jolene of Fort Edward, grandchildren, Allison Corlew, Josh Hill, Craig Hill, Lindsay Corlew, Grace Corlew, Anna Corlew, and Michael A. Corlew, one great granddaughter, Carmen Hill, three sisters, Colleen Lashway and husband James, Susan Strasser and husband Mike, and Melanie Cooper and husband Russell, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
