Obituary for Linda Mary Jarvis (Holmquist)

Linda Mary Jarvis (Holmquist)
Fort Edward
Linda Mary Holmquist Jarvis, age 68, passed away on April 10th, 2015, in Scottsdale, AZ while on a trip celebrating 50 wonderful years of marriage to the love of her life, Charles E. Jarvis.

Linda was born on March 30th, 1947, in Glens Falls, NY to the late Carl and Joyce (Burt) Holmquist. The oldest of four children, her brother, Charles, and two sisters, Meleah and Tammy, still live with their spouses in the Glens Falls Area.

Linda graduated high school from South Glens Falls in 1965 where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Chuck. While raising their two children, she decided to pursue her dream to be a teacher. She attended ACC and Skidmore College and worked hard to complete her degree in four years with straight A’s, completed her master’s degree, and then taught for Argyle Central School. She retired in 2009 after 29 years of joyous service. Her students loved her and there are countless young teachers today because of her.

She was a very caring and compassionate person, and always put the needs of others before her own. Linda’s passion was her children and their families. She remained actively involved in their lives and school activities. She was a tireless spectator of her grandchildren’s sporting events - whatever they pursued she was their number one fan. Recently, she was utilizing her teaching skills, yet again, with the proofreading of her granddaughter’s college essays and applications. She became a master at both Facebook and texting in order to communicate even more with her kids and was rarely seen without her iPhone in hand.

She loved holidays and succeeded in making them extra special. Neither a birthday nor event ever went by without a beautiful card or gift. Linda faithfully cared for her family, loved to cook, and was talented at both sewing and crafting. Above all, Linda was absolutely devoted to her husband and was the heart of the Jarvis family. Her love made life easier for everyone around her.

Linda was a long time member of First Baptist Church in South Glens Falls and attended Pine Knolls Missionary Alliance. She was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await her after her passing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Joyce.

Linda left to cherish her memory: her husband, Charles; her son, Terry, and his wife, Jennifer; her daughter, Meleah, and her husband, Josh Sellingham; two grandsons, Joseph Marra and Connor Jarvis; two granddaughters, Cassandra Jarvis and Ashlynne Marra.

Two sisters, Meleah Holmquist Vannier and her husband, Charlie; Tamara Holmquist Wilson and her husband, Chuck; one brother, Charles Holmquist and his wife, Joanne; along with many very special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
