Obituary for Roy M. Wade

Hartford

Roy M. “Grampie” Wade, 64, of Hartford, NY passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born July 10, 1950 in Rutland, VT, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Nina (Beayon) Wade.

Roy graduated from Poultney High School in 1968. He went to Rutland Vocational School for two years majoring in mechanics.

On September 18, 1971, Roy married the love of his life, Diane Brodie.

Roy ran his own business, Roy M. Wade and Sons General Contractor, for 25 years. Roy then worked for his son’s business, Russell M. Wade Building Contractor LLC for 6 years before his retirement in 2010.

Roy enjoyed coaching Little League, playing cards, fishing, puttering around the garage, and spending time with his loved ones. He was always there to lend a hand if someone needed help. He had a smile that could light up the room and was always a jokester. Most of all, Roy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his sister, Debbie Wade.

Survivors include Roy’s loving wife of 44 years, Diane Wade of Hartford, his children; Russell Wade and his wife Andrea of Hartford, and Steven Wade and his wife Abbey of Fort Ann, his grandchildren; Alexandria and Emma Wade of Hartford, and Hunter and Dawson Wade of Fort Ann, his sisters; Donna Wade, Pat Wade, and Beverly Deo of Granville, his brothers; Rocky Wade and his wife Mary of Salem, Ronnie Wade and his wife Debbie of Hampton, Roscoe Wade and his wife Barbara of Green Forest, AR, Ricky Wade and his wife Patty of Middletown Springs, VT, and Randy Wade of Hartford, several special aunts and uncles, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 2pm on Saturday, April 18, 2015 with Rev. Patti Girard of the Hartford Yoked Parish officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
