Obituary for Gerald "Pete" Jones

Gerald “Pete” Jones, 79, of County Route 30, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Albany Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Born in Granville on December 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Floyd and Grace (Waller) Jones.

He attended Hartford Central High School class of 1953 and Hudson Valley Community College where Gerald got his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1962.

Gerald married Dorothea Geyer on April, 1960 at the Hartford United Methodist Church.

He was a machinist at Ciba Geigy in Queensbury for nearly 30 years.

Gerald enjoyed hunting, drinking good beer, mowing his lawn, good company; he was an avid woodworker and ran Mill Creek Creations. He also enjoyed working his retirement job with Jesse Arlen.

He was a member of the Hartford Volunteer Fire Co. for 50 years, lifetime member of the Argyle Rescue Squad and Hartford Fish & Game.

Besides his parents Gerald was also predeceased by his wife Dorothea (Geyer) Jones, who passed away on January 20, 2003 and his brother Richard Jones.

Left to cherish his memories are his children; Daniel and his wife Laura and Mark and his wife Mary Beth all of Hartford; five grandchildren; Connor Jones, Dylan Jones, Felicity Jones, Lydia Jones, and Thaddeus Jones; his brothers; Gordon Jones of Corinth and Brian and his wife Christine Jones of Hartford along with their sons, Matt, Steven, and Nate; a special friend Arlene Murphy of Fair Haven, VT, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Hartford Volunteer Fire Company, Route 40, Hartford.

Memorial Services will be conducted 11a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Hartford United Methodist Church, Main Street Hartford with the Rev. Kelly Warner, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Stephen McLean, pastor of the Argyle Presbyterian Church co-officiating.
