Obituary for John Byron "Jack" Sears

John “Jack” Sears, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Albany Medical Center with his family by his side.

Born January 23, 1926 in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Davis) Sears.

Jack proudly served his country in the Unites States Navy during World War II. After leaving the service, he married the love of his life, Anita Catone, in St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward, NY.

Jack was a letter carrier in Fort Edward for many years. He loved taking drives with Anita and filling his home with flowers. He could often be found shopping, and was known for telling his war stories.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sisters; Harriet Catone and her husband Louis, Phyllis Roberts and her husband Edward, and Anne Terry and her husband Walt, his sisters-in-law; Mary Jane King and her husband Jack, Sylvia Durkin and her husband Tom, and Dolores Bardin and her husband Ben, as well as his in-laws, Joe “PaTone” and Jane “MaTone” Catone.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Anita Sears, his niece Beth Bardin, his sister-in-law Sandra Collins and her husband Joe, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY.

Rite of Committal will follow Mass at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward.
