Obituary for Isabelle Guthrie

South Argyle

Isabelle Guthrie, 98, formerly of county route 49 passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at The Orchard Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Granville.

Born November 22, 1916 in South Argyle at the Century Farm, she was the daughter of the late George and Emma (Ferguson) Guthrie.

She enjoyed writing letters to her friends, reading, gardening, birds and all wildlife.

Isabelle graduated from Greenwich class of 1936.

She worked as a Dairy Farmer for her family’s “Century” Farm that has been in existence since the 1830’s as well as caring for her family.

Besides her parents, Isabelle is predeceased by her sister Emma E. Williams; and three brothers, George Benjamin Guthrie, Dr. Richard S. Guthrie, and James Valentine “Pudge” Guthrie.

Left to cherish her memory are three nephews, Richard S. Guthrie, Charles S. Guthrie both of Illinois and Donald E. Williams of Corinth; a niece, Betty Jean Markel of Florida; a cousin, Joyce Durkee of Argyle; and a dear friend Mary Ann Morehouse of South Argyle.

At Isabelle’s request there will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at South Argyle Cemetery, South Argyle with the Rev. Stephen McLean, Pastor of The Argyle Presbyterian church, officiating.

Donation may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
