Obituary for Donald W. Robillard

Glens Falls
Donald W. Robillard, 91, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at The Pines Nursing Home, Glens Falls.
Born on January 4, 1924 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Celia (Bovair) Robillard.
On May 6, 1945 Don married the love of his life Dorothea (Creedon) at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls, with the Rev. Edwin A. Dugan officiating. The two spent 54 wonderful loving years together until her passing in February of 2000.
Don was employed for many years with Prudential Insurance Co. in Queensbury, as a District Manager, until his retirement, and then continued on to Farm Family Insurance Co. for another ten years.
As a Veteran of the United States Army he served in WWII with the rank of S/SGT. His name is on the Veterans Wall in Crandall Park, Glens Falls, along with his father, Wilfred. He is also a lifetime member of the American Legion, Mohican Post # 553, South Glens Falls.
Don was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls, as well as St. Michaels the Archangel Church, South Glens Falls, where he and his wife donated the Blessed Virgin Mary statue.
Don enjoyed spending time with his family, he loved traveling with his wife, playing card games, as well as taking trips to the Racino in Saratoga Springs.
Besides his parents and wife, Don is predeceased by his brother, Harold Robillard and his wife, Marie; his sisters, Madeline Cloutier and her husband, Fran, Joan Counters, Lillian Wildey and her husband, Joe, Elsie Dutra and her husband Dan and Susan Ball and her husband Owen.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Donald B. Robillard and his wife, Marlene, of South Glens Falls; his daughters, Elaine Winchell and her husband, Bud, of Queensbury, Connie Lavery (Tom Halayko), of Colonie, Mary Allheim and her husband, Wayne, of South Glens Falls, Sheila Gould and her husband, Dave, of Fort Ann, Theresa Lampkins and her husband, Jim, of Gansevoort; his brother, Larry Robillard, of Glens Falls; his brother in law, Jim Counters, of Hudson Falls; his fourteen grandchildren; his twenty three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday August 24, 2015 at 10 am at St. Michaels the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave. South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
A Rite of Committal will follow Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
Memorial donations in Don’s name can be made to the Fisher House, 113 Holland Ave. Albany, NY 12208, The Fisher house is “a home away from home” for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers, or to a charity of one’s choice.
