Eileen (Kelleher) Casey, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her home with her family by her side.

Born July 11, 1923 in Fort Edward, NY, she was the daughter of the late Francis James and Lena (Doody) Kelleher, who was born in Ireland.

Eileen graduated from South Glens Falls Central School in 1939, shortly before her 16th birthday. After a year of post graduate work, she happily attended Syracuse University (GO ORANGE!!!) and earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1944 from the Martin Whitman School of Management. She was a member of the Phi Mu sorority. She was then employed by G.E. as a secretary to the sales manager of the radio station WGY in Schenectady, NY.

In 1946, Eileen left G.E. to wed David Breen Casey of Glens Falls, and they were married on July 21, 1946. They moved to Oneonta, NY where Dave attended Hartwick College and Eileen worked as a secretary to the registrar. She was later employed by G.E. in Hudson Falls, and after the birth of her children, she earned her M.S in Education through SUNY Oneonta . She began teaching in South Glens Falls, continued in Saratoga Springs, and retired from the Glens Falls City Schools, in 1985.

Eileen was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.

Eileen was an active volunteer with the Girl Scouts and Brownie troops, the PTA, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Altar Rosary Society, St. Michael’s Bereavement Committee (all the members of which she loved dearly), a 25 year usher at SPAC, the Glens Falls Hospital Guild Board, The Hyde Collection, and the Adirondack Theater Festival.

Eileen was predeceased by her husband, David Breen Casey.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; David Casey and his wife Janice of Queensbury, Mary Ellen Toomey and her husband Mark of Saratoga Springs, and Maureen Casey of South Weymouth, MA, her grandchildren; Jeff Casey and his wife Nicole of South Glens Falls, Patrick Toomey of South Glens Falls, Kelly Casey of Burlington, VT, Maureen Knowles and her husband James of Rowayton, CT, Brian Casey and his wife Danielle of New Paltz, NY, Ryan Casey and his wife Melody of Glens Falls, her great-grandchildren; James, Oscar and Graham Knowles, and Genevieve Casey, and Dylan Dingman, as well as several brothers and sisters –in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at St. Michael the Archangel Church at 80 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls, NY.

Following Mass, Sister Donna Irvine, SSND, a close friend of the family, will say committal prayers St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
