Fort Edward

Anita M. Sarchioto, 94, of 41 Center Street, Fort Edward, died on August 31, 2015.

Born January 14, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Orestes F. and Mida S. (Arthur) De Ferro.

Ms. Sarchioto lived in Ticonderoga during her childhood years. She was a graduate of SCU at Plattsburgh and SUNY Albany. She was a Certified Social Worker. Anita was employed by Washington County Department of Social Services until her retirement in January, 1987. She was a member of the Washington County Children’s Committee and a past member of the Fort Edward Rescue Squad.

In years past, Ms. Sarchioto enjoyed yoga, walking, Tai Chi, CURVES and gardening.

Anita was predeceased by her former husband, Joseph Sarchioto.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Thomas Sarchioto of Constantia; two daughters, M. Therese King and her husband Brian of Minnesota and M. Christine Prell of Fort Edward; along with four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Church 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. Burial will be in the family plot in Mount Hope Cemetery, Burgoyne Street, Ticonderoga at a later date.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 226, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
