Richard John “Dickie” Roberts, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Glens Falls Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Born in Glens Falls on December 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Edward “Hecky” and Mary “Phyllis” (Sears) Roberts Jr.

He was a graduate of Fort Edward High School.

Dickie worked for Sherwood Medical in Argyle for many years.

He enjoyed gardening, photography, fishing, BB King and blues music, tinkering with anything and trying to put stuff back together, working on cars especially foreign cars, ice racing on Cossayuna Lake, was an avid dog lover and a fan of George Carlin and Steve Martin and anything that would make him laugh.

Besides his parents, Dickie is predeceased by brother, Timothy David “Iggy” Roberts, and niece, Kathleen “Beaner” Traver.

Left to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Saara Roberts, of Bennington, VT, and Susan-Mary Bates of Glens Falls, three grandchildren, Keegan, Carter, and Cameryn Bentley, brothers, Edward “Steve” Roberts and wife Joyce of Fort Edward, Phillip Roberts and wife Laura, of South Glens Falls, sisters, Kathleen Green and husband, Steve of Vero Beach, Florida, and Mary Traver and husband Matthew, of Fort Edward, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Dickie’s request there will be no calling hours or service.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
