Obituary for Patricia Sue Jefferis (Callahan)

QUEENSBURY

Patricia Sue (Callahan) Jefferis, 80, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Pines in Glens Falls, New York.

Born October 6, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Gertrude A. Callahan.

Patricia met her husband-to-be, Warren Jefferis, while he was on a sabbatical from teaching for the Rochester School District. They married and returned to New York State living for much their 52 years of marriage in Newcomb.

Patricia worked for a time for the University of Rochester as well at the Time/Life Magazine in Chicago. Much of her life was devoted to her friends and her husband until she enlarged her world by attending and receiving her degree from North Country Community College where her husband taught English at Newcomb Central School.

Patricia’s favorite artistic outlets were writing poetry and working with clay. She was an avid reader in many areas but especially poetry and writers who combined spirituality and day-to-day living. Her favorite poem was The Queens Came Late by Norma Farber.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her husband Warren who passed away October 24, 2012. She was also predeceased by her brother Robert Callahan.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters-in-laws; Clare Callahan of North Ridgeville, Ohio and Gordon and Anne Hartley of Webster, New York, as well as seven well-loved nieces and nephews and twelve great nieces and nephews.

It is Patricia’s wish that there by no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the residents and gentle care givers at the Terrace who became good friends during Patricia’s stay there. The family also wishes to thank Patricia’s friends Bonnie and Bruce Wright, and Melissa Derrick who have provided her support over the last few weeks.
