Obituary for Richard E. "Dick" MacDonald Sr.

Glens Falls
Richard E. “Dick” MacDonald, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Cronin High Rise in Glens Falls, NY.

Born January 26, 1926, in Buffalo, NY, Dick was the son of the late Raymond MacDonald and Anna (Holmquist) MacDonald Sundberg, and his special stepfather, Franz Sundberg.

In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia Coffee MacDonald, on July 7, 2012, following 64 years of marriage.

Dick is survived by his brother, Oscar Sundberg and his wife Ruth, of Glens Falls; his sons, Richard E. MacDonald, Jr. of Queensbury and Jack MacDonald, of Hudson Falls; his daughter, Mary Wiedl (Dennis) of Fort Edward; his four grandchildren, Erika MacDonald of Glens Falls, Jonelle MacDonald (Eric Gould) of Hudson Falls, Ryan Wiedl of Cambridge and Bridget Wiffin (Daniel) of Barre, VT; sister in law, Theresa French, of Glens Falls; Six great-grandchildren and several nieces and a nephew.

At the convenience of the family, Dick will be laid to rest with military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

In addition, Dick’s family would like to recognize the compassionate professionals at High Peaks Hospice who provided comfort and support to Dick during his final months.
