Carmelita, 92, passed away on November 9, 2015 surrounded by her immediate family including her loving husband David W. Sexton Sr., their son David W. Sexton Jr., his wife Antonia Sexton and her grandchildren David W. Sexton III and Camille Sexton-Ehrler. Carmelita is survived by her sister Grayce Morrissey and her brother Jesse Maffuid, sister-in-law Janet Maffuid Leavy as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Marion Maffuid, sisters Helen Maffuid and Elizabeth Marzola, brother Samuel Maffuid and sisters-in-law Elizabeth, Barbara and Marjorie Sexton.
Carmelita was born February 27, 1923 in Standish NY. She attended South Glens Falls High School where she met her husband. They married on August 7, 1943 and settled in South Glens Falls with their son David.
Carmelita was passionate about textiles and clothing design. She worked at Joy Department Store in South Glens Falls leading their fashion and clothing purchasing program. Carmelita was also a fabulous craftswoman and very well known for her miniatures, paintings, and craft designs. She won various awards for her beautiful objects, paintings and poetry.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 17, 2015 at The Village Center, Covenant Village, 9215 West Broward Blvd., Plantation, Florida. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral home, 136 Main St. South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga Springs, New York at a later date. See also www.fredhunter.com for more details.
