John E. (Jack) Rafferty died January 25th, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Born April 1st, 1935 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY to the late Edward F. and Alice (Murphy) Rafferty.

He attended Sacred Heart School in Suffern through 7th grade when the family moved to Glens Falls. He attended and graduated from St. Mary's Academy Class of 1953.

Jack entered the US Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957 after an 18 month assignment in Korea.

He went to work for Capital Finance Corp, Glens Falls in 1958 and was transferred to Torrington, CT in 1963 to manage that office. In 1965 he joined First National Bank of Glens Falls, NY, (Evergreen Bank, TD Bank North) managing the South Glens Falls office, retiring in 1995 as Vice President. Throughout his career with the bank he saw many changes both in the banking industry and with the bank ownership.

Jack was very active in the South Glens Falls and Glens Falls Community: Rotary Club, Jaycees, Crandall Library Board, Chamber of Commerce, President of the Historical Society of Moreau and South Glens Falls, Town of Moreau Historian. He served as Trustee for the Moreau Town Board for 4 years. He served on the South Glens Falls School Board for a number of years. Jack had the privilege of handing his three children their High School Diplomas.

His interests were with antiques, clocks being first in his collections. He ran an Antique Shop in Moreau for many years after his retirement from Banking.

Jack and his wife enjoyed traveling both in the USA and Europe as well as cruising. They had a 2nd home in Delray Beach, FL for 13 years and made many lasting friendships.

On April 23rd, 1960, Jack married Marianna Lanzo Rafferty at St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls, NY.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother Tom in 2004.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Marianna Rafferty; children, Kathleen (Buck) Larson of Fort Ann, NY,Rev. J. Michael Rafferty OAR of Tagaste Monastery, Suffern, NY and Christopher(Jill) Rafferty of Moreau, NY. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Abigail, Jesse and Evan Rafferty of Moreau.
Friends may call from 11-12p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at St. Michael’s Church, 80 Saratoga Ave South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at St. Michael’s Church, 80 Saratoga Ave South Glens Falls, NY 12803 with his son Rev. J Michael Rafferty OAR Presiding.

Burial will be in the spring at St. Mary’s cemetery at the convenience of the family.
