Jean T. Moon, 90, of Westbrook Apartments passed away peacefully on Monday February 1, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 5, 1925 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late, Harold J. and Theresa (Hall) Tefft.

Jean graduated from Glens Falls High School.

On March 31, 1946, right after WWII, Jean married her soul mate, Donald Moon, at the First Baptist Church in Glens Falls. They spent 61 wonderful years together until Donald’s passing in 2007.

Jean worked in payroll at GE then she left the workforce to raise her children, returning to work at Reid’s Carousel Shop and later retired from Sears in Queensbury where she worked in the men’s department.

Jean was the 5th generation of her family to be a member of the First Baptist Church in Glens Falls and later joined the Harrisena Community Church until her passing.

Jean enjoyed many trips with her husband to Maine and Hawaii as well as traveling on family vacations with her grandchildren. She volunteered with the Glens Falls Hospital Guild. She enjoyed going to the Racino and playing cards with her wonderful friends at Westbrook Apartments. She loved shopping and dancing and was always the life of the party with a great sense of humor. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. To celebrate “90 Years Loved”, she was joined by over 100 friends and family for dinner and dancing.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean is predeceased by an infant son, John “Johnny” Harold Moon; her sisters Evelyn Moon and Sylvia Newcomb; her brother, Earl Tefft; her brothers in law, Donald Newcomb and Robert Moon; as well as her sister in law, Alice Tefft.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Jean Davison-Smith and her husband Richard, of Queensbury; her son, David J. Moon, of Queensbury; her grandchildren, Donnean T. Thrall and her husband Jamie, of Wilton, Donald “Bill” Moon and his wife, Bethany, of Queensbury, Deanna J. Moon, of Queensbury, Russell W. Smith, of Queensbury, Richard C. Smith Jr. and his wife, Erin, of Queensbury and Randall W. Smith of Thornwood, NY; her great grandchildren, Lydia and Marlie Thrall, Hannah, Logan and Rusty Smith, Daniel Moon and Tamara Cross; her special daughter in law, Melodie “Dee” Moon; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call from 4-6 pm on Thursday February 4, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St. South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 11 am on Friday February 5, at the Harrisena Community Church, 1616 Ridge Rd. Queensbury, NY 12804. A reception will immediately follow the service in Robinson Hall.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of T2 at Glens Falls Hospital, Dr. Eric Pillemer, Dr. Suzanne Blood, Dr. Amy Hogan-Moulton, Sharon Shannon, Palliative Care NP, Cindy Murray, Home Care Aide and the High Peaks Hospice staff. They would also like to recognize the spiritual support provided by Rev. LaMont Robinson, Deacon Nancy Goff, and Sister Donna Irvine. Her daughter, son, granddaughter, and daughter in law were honored to be able to fulfill her wishes and provide end of life care for her at home.
