Obituary for Phyllis Jean Russell

Phyllis Russell, 78, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 09, 2016.
Born in Proctor, VT on October 7, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Harold and Erma (Larreau) McCullough.
On February 7, 1954 Phyllis married the love of her life Peter Russell.
Phyllis attended ACC and received her registered nursing degree. She took great pride in her work at Wilton Developmental Center for over 20 years. She was admired for her nursing skills and advocating for the clients she treated.
Phyllis enjoyed sailing with her husband on their boat the Naramata, traveling the intercostal waterway to the Florida Keys. Phyllis had a special way with animals often donating her time money and TLC for many strays. She was also there for many people along the way, always believing, helping and never one to judge. She loved to visit in her custom made “human cat retreat” with friends and family. She always loved to hear and tell humorous stories. Phyllis leaves behind an aura of love and acceptance and a comfortable void that will be felt by many.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis is predeceased by four sisters and a brother.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Peter Russell; her daughters, Renee Forbes and her husband Steve, Michelle Russell and her husband AJ Weihmiller, Valerie Penders and her husband Thomas, Roberta Whatley and her husband Joel; grandchildren Todd Mallory and his wife Carrie, Kevin Strainer, Jeff Strainer and his wife Liz and Mason Forbes; great grandchildren, Justin Mallory, Brooke Strainer, Emma and Kaelyn Strainer; her sister, Anna St. Jacques of Plattsburgh and her family; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 11-1p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 1p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the funeral home.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
