Obituary for Peter J Brennan

Peter J Brennan
South Glens Falls
The world is a little less bright today.

Peter Brennan peacefully left this world on Thursday March 31, 2016 in the arms of his beloved wife of 57 years, surrounded by his five children, and holding the hand of his brother. His loss was unexpected.

Anyone that had the privilege of knowing Peter will surely tell you that he stood out. His magnetic personality could not be ignored; he was truly a gift to all he touched.

Peter's life was dedicated to his wife, children, grand-children, and great-grand-children, siblings, cousins, neighbors - anyone and everyone he could help, love, cherish. His love and devotion is hand down his legacy - a legacy that will continue to live on through the spirit he embedded in each and every soul that was blessed to have known him.

Born in Glens Falls on April 18, 1937, he was the son of the late, John and Madlyn (Burlett) Brennan.

Pete attended the St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls before attending South Glens Falls High School graduating in the class of 1955.

After graduation, Pete enlisted in the Air Force, where he served from 1955-1959 and was stationed in Puerto Rico.

On December 3, 1959 after returning from his service in the Air Force, he married the love of his life, Lynn Shaw at St. Michael’s the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls. He was a devoted husband to his soulmate for 57 years.

Pete was employed with Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls for 40 years and was known for walking to and from work on a daily basis. He was a member of the IBEW Electrician’s Union.

He was a hard-working, loyal, ambitious man that found peace in crosswords, reading the newspaper, fishing, golfing roller skating as a young boy, garage sales and he was a fantastic dancer, but most important to him was spending time with family and friends, including his special trip to Hawaii with his wife Lynn and brother Walt. Born and raised in South Glens Falls, there wasn't a person he wouldn't talk to!

In addition to his parents, Peter is predeceased by his step father, Donald Taft; and his sister, Marilyn O’Malley.
