Obituary for Leda Brown (Troumbley)

Leda  Brown (Troumbley)
GRANVILLE, NY

Leda (Troumbley) Brown, 94, passed away peacefully at her home at the Orchard in North Granville, NY on April 10, 2016.

She was born September 30, 1921 in Fort Ann, NY to Ethel (Braymen) and Warren Troumbley.

She married Maurice (Jake) Brown October 26, 1939 at her parents home. Leda and Jake
raised their five children at their dairy farm on Taylor Hill, South Granville, NY which they purchased
in 1946. Leda also worked at GE in Hudson Falls and was an active mom, involved with
her children in FFA and 4-H. She was a 84 year member of the Sunnyside Grange. Leda enjoyed
raising and working with horses and cows, baking bread, gardening, canning, hunting,
fishing, building their home and cabins on their property.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Philip (Roberta) of Asheboro, NC and their
children Randy, Scott, Kim and Rob, Gerald (Davene) of Bomoseen, VT and their children Amy
and Dan. Edie (Ted Jonas) of Phoenix, AZ and their children Lea and Christopher, Marlene
Brown (Sue Dorn) of Baldwinsville, NY, and a daughter in law Madelyn of Middle Granville, NY
and her children Christine and David. Leda is also survived by 18 great grandchildren, and a
sister Florence (Honey) Stevenson of Queensbury, along with many nieces, nephews and
cousins. Also survived by special friends Dick and Dona Crandall.

Leda was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her son Maurice and granddaughter Debby,
her sisters Marion Elms Denton and Emma Ladd, her brothers Frank, George, William and
Robert Troumbley.

Private burial services are being held on April 13 at Brown’s Cemetery, Tripoli Road, Fort Ann, NY. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on May 21 at 11am at the United Church of Granville,
Church Street, Granville with the Rev. Jerry McKinney officiating.
