Obituary for Madeline Jeanette Blood (Hutchins)

Madeline Jeanette (Hutchins) Blood, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Glens Falls Hospital with her family at her side.

Born on February 2, 1923, in White River Junction VT, she was the daughter of the late, Hobart C. and Evelyn (Kimball) Hutchins.

Madeline grew up in Lebanon, NH, and graduated from Lebanon High School and Springfield, Massachusetts Business College.

Madeline married Charles A. Blood Jr. in July, 1948. During their years together, they lived in Burlington, VT., Bethlehem, PA., Buffalo and Plattsburgh NY

Madeline volunteered for the American Red Cross, March of Dimes and Muscular Dystrophy Association in addition to approximately 25 years at Champlain Valley Hospital in Plattsburgh

She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Lebanon High School Alumni Association, Order of the Easter Star and the Newcomers Club.

In 2000, she moved to South Glens Falls to be near her family. She was first and foremost a wife, mother and grandmother. She had a smile that was contagious. Over the years she enjoyed ice skating, skiing, walking, reading, knitting and crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents and husband, Madeline is predeceased by her sisters, Hilda and Louise.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles R. Blood and his wife, Judy, of So. Glens Falls; her granddaughter, Amber Valder and her partner, Jeremy Knopka; her brother, James Hutchins; her great granddaughters, Alexis and Rylee, of Northfield, NH; her grandson, Andrew Blood, of Daleville, AL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

At Madeline’s request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St. So. Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends in Lebanon, NH at a later date.
