Obituary for Theresa Jane O'Leary

Theresa Jane O'Leary
South Glens Falls
Theresa “Jane” O’Leary, 83, of South Glens Falls passed away peacefully Saturday April 16, 2016 at the Glens Falls Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Glens Falls, NY, on October 2, 1932 she was the daughter of the late, Leo and Madeline (Rork) Metiver.

Jane attended St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls, graduating in the class of 1951.

On April 24, 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, Edward O’Leary at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls and they spent 62 happy years together.

Jane was a communicant of St. Michael’s the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.

Jane was employed with the Troy Shirt Guild in Glens Falls for many years. After her retirement her love of children brought her to work for ABC preschool, a job that she truly loved and a place where she made many long lasting relationships. One of those relationships that she carried with her was one with a former student, Derrick Bushman.

Jane loved animals; she was an avid reader and knitter. Jane and her husband Ed loved to travel with the Community Center to any Casino they were offering, especially trips to Atlantic City. After the Saratoga Racino opened, you did not have to twist her arm to go there and she was usually a winner. Until just recently you could find her and her friends, Ann, Shirley, Rita and Jackie at the movies on Sundays, something she looked forward to every week.

In addition to her parents, Jane is predeceased by her brother, Joseph Metiver; her sister Mary White; her Aunt, Loyola Dooley; and her Uncle, Charles Rork.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edward O’Leary; her son, Charles R. O’Leary; her son, Edward O’Leary Jr. and his wife, Lucia; her daughter, Maryjane Simione and her husband, Todd; her daughter, Susan O’Leary; her granddaughters, Shannon Campolieta and her husband, Patrick and Christine Sefchik and her husband, Eric; her great grandchildren, Nicholas and Sofia Campolieta; as well as several nieces and nephews.

At Jane’s request there will be no calling hours.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 11am at St. Michael’s the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Rite of Committal will be held on Tuesday April 19, 2016 follow the funeral mass.
