Obituary for Alan Duane Craw

SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Alan D. Craw, 90 of Moreau, died on Friday, April 22, 2016 at The Stanton in Queensbury
Born December 9, 1925, in Fabuis, NY, he was the youngest and only surviving son of Elmer and Dama (Partello) Craw.
Following high school graduation in Tully, NY, he served 3 years (1943-1946) in the U.S. Navy, discharged as an Electronic Technician Mate Second Class. He attended and graduated from Syracuse University and worked 3 years for Farm Bureau Insurance Company. He then started a 25-year career with The New York State Insurance Fund, starting as a Field Representative in the Syracuse area; moved to Delmar in 1966 as District Manager of the Albany office, and spent the last 8 years in New York City as the State Director of Field Services, retiring in 1985.
Alan was a member of Tully Masonic Lodge #896, Delmar Blanchard Post American Legion, and South Glens Falls United Methodist Church.
Alan was married to Elizabeth Green for 69 years, who survives him. He is also survived by his three children: Philip of Frederick, MD, Christine Shaner (Peter) of Queensbury, NY, and Douglas (Vicki) of Dunlap, IL. Alan has two grandchildren: Brian Shaner (Jennifer) of Queensbury, NY, and Rebecca Holmes (Randy) of Salem, NY; and four great-grandchildren: Jack and Emily Shaner, and Ava and Oliver Holmes. He is also survived by several nieces.
Friends may call from 4-6pm on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12:30pm on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with Rev. William Puckey, Pastor of the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church officiating, followed by military honors.
