Glens Falls

Forrest “Doc” C. Strong Sr., 70, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born November 25, 1945 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late George and Beatrice (Smith) Strong.

After high school Doc joined the Navy and proudly served our country in Vietnam from 1967-1971.

On July 13, 1968 Forrest married the love of his life Zelda.

He was an employee of Scott Paper for over 20 years.

Doc enjoyed working on his cars, movies, NASCAR, classic country music, playing with his cat, Garrett Buddy and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Doc is predeceased by his wife, Zelda Strong; brother, Frederick N. Strong; nephews, Frederick Strong and Jeffrey Strong.

Left to cherish his memory include his four children, Peggy Wood and her husband Doug, Forrest “Doc” Strong Jr. and his wife April, Mark Strong and his wife Laurie, and Jane Brownell and her husband Bob; grandchildren, Saraya and Allysha, Jessica, Sydney and Zachary, Anthony and Briana, Marlayna, Jossette and Peggy; great grandchildren, Mya, Elijah, Jayden and Melody; sisters, Adorna Spaulding, Beatrice Carr and Jane LaFountain; brothers, Gordon Strong, George Strong and Thomas Strong; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Forrest’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 1-3pm at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 136 Main Street South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Burial will follow at Gansevoort Cemetery, Gansevoort, NY.

Donations in Doc’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
