Lorenzo Mead,78, passed away Friday July 29, 2016 at his home.

Born on February 1, 1938 in Hampton, NY he was the youngest of 12 children to the late William and Aurillia (Vaughn) Mead.

He graduated from Granville High School Class of 1956.

On June 6, 1959 Lorenzo married the love of his life Irene Mound Mead.

Lorenzo retired as a Captain from NYS Department of Corrections after 28 years of service.

He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and especially spending time with his family.

Lorenzo was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of Washington County Historical Society.

In addition to his parents, Lorenzo was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Irene Mead.

Left to cherish his memory include his son, John Mead and his wife Kelly of Hudson Falls; daughters, Deborah Mead of South Glens Falls, Laurie Genzlinger and her husband Alvin of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Dora VanCamp, Nicholas Mead, Alvin (AJ) Genzlinger Jr., and Jacquelynne Genzlinger; brother, Paul Mead and his wife Pat of Henderson, NC; sisters-in-law, Ruth Gonya and her husband Willis, Geri Mound; close family friend, Missy Morgan; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.

Friends may call from 4-7p.m. on Monday August 1, 2016 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10a.m. Tuesday August 2, 2016 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Elmwood Cemetery, Middle Granville, NY 12849.

Donations in Lorenzo’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children 516 Carew St. Springfield, Ma 01104.
