South Glens Falls
Ben A. Marcantonio, 69, of South Glens Falls, passed away on Sunday September 18th, 2016 at his home.
Born on February 15th, 1947, he was the son of the late, Benito and Joyce (Marcantonio) Burrows, of Glens Falls.
He graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1965. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served for 4 years as a Class A RM3 radio operator. He was stationed New Port, RI and in Greece. He received the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged.
After returning home from his enlistment, he became a successful business man and an inventor. His most notable invention is the Peacock Tanning Booth which he invented in 1989.
He enjoyed attending his children’s many sporting events throughout the years. As his grandchildren began to play sports he continued that tradition. Nothing could stop him from watching his grandchildren play not even his failing health. His greatest joy in life was his family. He was a true family man.
In addition to his parent’s Ben is predeceased by his brother, Gary Marcantonio.
Ben is survived by, Jamie Marcantonio and his former wife, Mary Hamm, the Mothers of his children, Benjamin (Heather) of Queensbury, Effie (Jim) Lovering of Hudson Falls, and Kelle (Leffon) Bobbitt of Lawrenceville, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Koral, Angelo, Leyton, Gianna, Kameron, Jessica, Steven, Deion, Quentin, and Leffon Jr; three great grandchildren, Skyla, Braydon, and Dustin; three brothers, Terry (Kathy) Marcantonio of Glens Falls, Robbie (Dana) Burrows of Lyme, Ct and Craig (Cheryl) Burrows of Glens Falls; his sister Sharlene (William) Morehouse of Queensbury; his sister in law, Carolyn Marcantonio; his stepfather, Bob Burrows of Glens Falls; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 11-1pm on Wednesday Sept. 21, 2016 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St. So. Glens Falls, NY 12803.
A private service and burial will be held following the calling hours.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stoutenburg and staff of Glens Falls Hospital’s C.R. Wood Cancer Center as well as the Saratoga Community Hospice.
