Obituary for Bruce E. McKernon

COSSAYUNA

Bruce E. McKernon, 81, of East Lake Road, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his caregivers after a long illness.

Born February 16, 1935 in Argyle, NY, he was the son of the late Stewart and Rachel (Dillon) McKernon.

Bruce worked on the family farm with his father and grandfather, and also for the Town of Argyle for many years.

In his younger years, Bruce enjoyed riding around in his black Corvette. He also enjoyed hunting, riding around the field on his 4x4 Gator, looking at the wildlife, taking rides in the car around the lake, and trips to Vermont to visit friends. He also enjoyed going to old barn dances and sitting outside by his garage and watching the traffic. He was a big collector of scale model John Deere tractors, Hess trucks, trains, and especially guns.

Bruce is survived by his cousin, Peter Dillon, and his close friends Martha Miller of Fort Edward and Bruce Squires of Greenwich.

At Bruce’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Argyle, NY with Rev. Stephen McLean of the Argyle Presbyterian Church officiating.

A special thanks to Bruce’s caregivers for their kindness and compassion including; DarleneWeir, Valerie Ballard, Donna Peters, Mary and Cliff Hurd, Stacia Jones, and Stephanie Thomas, as well as the Community Hospice of Saratoga for all of their help.
