Obituary for Constance Garrity (Mantas)

Saratoga

Constance (Mantas) Garrity, 101, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs.

Born on May 3, 1915 in Salisbury, CT she was the daughter of the late John Alexis Mantas and Ethel Blanche Cox.

In 1935 she married Kyran Edward Garrity and together they raised five children.

She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, knitting, gardening and raising her children. Constance never gave up even after the loss of her husband 28 years ago.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Kyran Edward Garrity; sister, Rita (Mantas) Marcus; three children, John William Garrity, David Kyran Garrity and Marion Elizabeth (Garrity) Cridge.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Marjorie Louise Garrity of Arizona and Catherine Rita Offutt (Troy) of Oklahoma; son-in-law, William A. Cridge; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (Gelwick) Trusty and Ellen (Budd) Garrity; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Home of the Good Shepherd, 400 Church St. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 with Rev. Jerry McKinney officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Constance’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
