Obituary for Robert D. "Bob" Sheldon

Robert “Bob” D. Sheldon, 80, of East Lake Rd. passed away peacefully on Monday November21, 2016 at the Fort Hudson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side.

Born in Granville, NY on September 14, 1936 he was the son of the late, Edward and Violet (Grant) Sheldon.

Bob was employed as a truck driver with Swift Transportation and various other transportation companies throughout his working life. His passion for woodworking led him to open his craft store, Grandma and Grandpas Country Creations, which had two locations.

On November 22, 1981, Bob married the love of his life, Charlean Weaver and they spent 32 loving years together before her passing in 2013.

Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening and boating. He and his wife Charlean were fans of the Food Network and were always trying out new recipes together. His favorite football team was the Seattle Seahawks and he enjoyed watching NASCAR. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Ashlar Lodge #584 Masonic Lodge in Greenwich, NY.

Bob served his country in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. While living in Texas, Bob built planes for the Air Force.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bob is predeceased by his sister, Geraldine Kamburlis and his grandson, Robert Wadsworth.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Heidi Duell and her husband, Richard, Donna Clemons and her husband, Mike, Tammy Viau and her significant other, Gary Sawtell and Bobbi-Jo Wright and her husband, Edward; his step son, Keith Conrad and his significant other, Darlene; his step daughter, Teresa Klotz; his special companion, Lynn Brayton; his brother, George Sheldon and his wife, Betty; his sister, Linda Ross and her husband, Joe;; his grandchildren, Joseph Wadsworth Jr. and his wife, Eva who took great care of Bob while at Fort Hudson, Christopher Wadsworth, Todd Sheldon, Michelle Whitty and her husband, Chris, 2nd Lieutenant Patrick Viau, Air Force, Staff Sgt. Amanda Viau, Air Force, Cpl. Melissa Viau, Army, Kristen Wright and Tyler Wright; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special nephew, Jim Brayman, who gave Bob so much love and support.

At Bob’s request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.

Services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in Bob’s name can be made to the Fort Hudson Foundation, 319 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to all the members of Fort Hudson’s Staff for all of the love and care they showed Bob while he was in their care. The family would also like to thank Pat Ross for all she did while taking care of Bob.
