Obituary for Carol Ann Phair (Clemente)

South Glens Falls

Carol Clemente Phair died late Friday evening, November 25, 2016, at the age of 72 and in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family. We are all saddened by the severity of her illness and suddenness of her death. Born Carol Ann Clemente on April 14th, 1944, the second of ten children to John and Catherine Clemente of Gloversville, New York. Carol was a 1962 graduate of Gloversville High School and 1966 graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh with a BA in Education.

Carol was a loving wife, a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and loyal friend; always placing the needs of her family and friends before her own. She loved family above all. She was the stability and strength in the lives of her family making difficult tasks easier and being the first to volunteer to assist without hesitation never asking for accolades. Her accepting and friendly nature made her easy to love as she could always be counted on selflessly in times of need, particularly for the elderly and infirmed. Her nurturing way even extended to her pets, that she loved dearly. She, in a way, is the glue that holds us all together.

As a devout Roman Catholic and an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls, she would help to organize dances in the 70’s or as President of the Rosary Altar Society in the 80’s. She also assisted with bereavement, consoling for many members.

She is survived by her husband James W. Phair Jr., her daughter Janine Kelly (Paul) Edwards of Lake George, NY, her sons Christopher James (companion Danielle) Phair, Peter John (Tammy) Phair and Patrick Thomas Phair all of South Glens Falls, NY and her grandchildren: Joshua Scott Poole, Jeffrey Matthew Poole, Paige Alyse Edwards, Jacob Paul Edwards, Jared Kyle Edwards and Lacey Marie Field and her step-grandchildren: Tiffany Lace Calabrese and Dylan Michael Calabrese. She is also survived by her mother Catherine M. Clemente of Gloversville, NY, her sisters: Marsha L. Orndorff of Murrells Inlet, SC, Patricia S. Clemente of Fort Johnson, NY, and Elizabeth A. Clemente of Princeton, NJ and brothers: Carmine John Clemente of Big Pine Key, FL, Michael D. Clemente of Rensselaer, NY, Stephen M. Clemente of Nassau, NY and Anthony R. Clemente of New York City and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. Carol is predeceased by her father John L. Clemente, sister Jeanette Marie Clemente and brother Jeffrey John Clemente.

A full mass of Catholic burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 3rd at 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, NY. Anyone wishing to pay last respects is welcome to do so at church one hour prior to the mass. A Rite of Committal will be held following mass in St. Mary’s Cemetery, So. Glens Falls. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bereavement Committee, So. Glens Falls at the address above or F.A.C.T., a foster home cat service, P.O. Box 4045, Queensbury, NY 12804.
