Sherry Jean Battease, 54, of John St. Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 18, 2016.
Born on May 8, 1962, in Cambridge, NY, she was the daughter of the late, Robert M. and Ethel P. (Blair) Truax.
Sherry attended Argyle Central School in her youth, graduating in the class of 1980.
Throughout her working life she was employed with many local businesses as a medical device manufacturer. In addition to working, she also raised her family.
On March 3, 2009, Sherry married, Richard Jay Battease in Argyle, NY and they spent 12 years together.
Sherry enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and fishing. She also enjoyed bowling with her team in the local bowling league. Sherry loved spending time with her family, but most of all enjoyed the time she spent with her special grandbabies.
In addition to her parents, Sherry is predeceased by her son, Jeremy Abare; brother, Bruce Bennett; sister, Sheila Loomis; and grandson, “Alex”
In addition to her husband, Sherry is survived by her son, Ryan Abare and his wife, Caitlin, of Fort Ann; her son, Andrew Abare and his significant other, Christie Valenti, of Hudson Falls; her daughter, Stephanie Abare, of Queens Village; her grandchildren, Kayden Covino and Khiana Lopez, of Queens Village; her sisters, Susan Hickman and Sherrill Brown; her brothers, Robert Truax and his wife, Robin, of Argyle and Gary Bennett and his wife, Penny; her brother in law, Harold Howe and his wife, Sue; her special niece, Kimmy; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4-6 pm on Friday December, 23, 2016 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St. Argyle, NY 12809.
A memorial service will be celebrated following calling hours at 6pm with the Rev. Kelly Warner, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to make a special thank you to nurse Corrine and the Staff of HCR as well as the nurses and Dr.’s on Tower 2 of the C.R. Wood Cancer Center.
