Obituary for Nicholas Peter "Papou" Robas

Nicholas Peter “Papou” Robas, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 21, 2016 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Fulton, NY on January 23, 1925, he was the son of the late, Peter and Anna (Adrianna) Robas.

Nicholas attended G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, NY and graduated in the class of 1942.
Following graduation from high school, Nicholas enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 12, 1943. Nicholas earned the rank of Technician fourth grade, working as a Radio Operator. He received the American Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On March 10, 1946, Nicholas was Honorably Discharged from Ft. Dix after three years of service.

After his discharge -- Nicholas enrolled in college, attending school in Pasadena, and graduating with his B.S. in Business Administration from Syracuse University.

On September 16, 1951, Nicholas married the love of his life, Sweeta Luvadis at St. Sophia’s Church in Syracuse. They spent 65 loving years together.

Nicholas enjoyed a successful business career – working for Sealright Container Company in Fulton, N.Y. and Cambridge Filter Company in Syracuse, N.Y. In 1984, Nicholas retired from Sherwood Medical Industries in Argyle, N.Y. after fourteen years as a Materials Manager.

Nicholas was an avid reader and Syracuse Orangemen fan -- but most important to him was spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren. Nicholas was a communicant of St. George’s Church in South Glens Falls.

In addition to his parents, Nicholas is predeceased by his sisters, Rose Kanellis and Helen Stathis; and his brothers, James and Thomas Robas.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Sweeta (Luvadis) Robas; his son, Peter Robas and his wife, Grace; his daughter, Anastasia James and her husband, Paul; his grandchildren, Christina and Alexandra Robas; sister Lefterea Murchie, his dear friends, Nick and Marylou DiNicola; his grand-dog, Katie James; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 pm on Tuesday December 27, 2016 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St. So. Glens Falls, NY 12803. The Trisagion prayers will be said at 6:30pm.

A Funeral service will be conducted at 10am on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at the St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 55 Main St. South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Burial with full military honors will be conducted at 12:30 pm following the Funeral service at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Nation Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the second floor staff of The Pine’s Nursing Home in Glens Falls for their compassion, care and loving support during this difficult time.
