Erica J. Smyth
Queensbury – Erica Joyce Smyth, 25, of Queensbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Dec. 30, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born on Nov. 23, 1991 in Glens Falls, New York, Erica was the daughter of Jerry Smyth and the late Ellen Benoit Smyth.
Erica was a graduate of the Wildwood School in Schenectady, where she enjoyed 18 years under their care and guidance.
While she could not communicate verbally, Erica’s exuberance and zest for life touched all her knew her. She had a special fondness for Disney movies, her favorite being the Little Mermaid. Erica loved family gatherings and especially enjoyed the company of her grandmother, Marie Benoit.
She was predeceased by her mother, Ellen Benoit Smyth, and her grandparents, Raymond Benoit and Marie Benoit, and Michael and Joyce Smyth.
Left to cherish her memory are her father Jerry Smyth and her brother, Logan Smyth, both of Queensbury. She is also survived by several aunts and uncles, including Susan and Kevin Smyth of Queensbury, Holly Smyth of Queensbury, Karen and Walt Barry of Brooklyn, Patricia and John Lawson of Piedmont, Missouri, Linda and John Ellingsworth of Granville, Kelly and Daniel Benoit of Troy, and Carol Benoit and Robert Esser of Clifton Park, as well as several cousins.
Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, NY. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of the emergency room and ICU at Glens Falls Hospital for their exceptional care of Erica during this difficult time.
In Erica’s memory, Jerry and Logan ask that you do one act of kindness for someone.
