Obituary for David Frank Foley

Carmel, Indiana

David Frank Foley (76) passed away in Carmel, IN on April 1, 2017 after suffering from Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Glens Falls, NY on January 19, 1941, where he lived most of his life except while serving in the Army.
David was a devoted family man. He loved music and creative work. He was a skilled story teller. He played piano, guitar, and wrote hundreds of songs, poems, plays, and short stories. He was a long-time D.J. and radio personality. He also had an entrepreneurial streak: he started CMP (Community Merit Program) which honored local heroes such as police, firefighters, and teachers who serve their community.
He moved to Indiana to be closer to family. He will be missed by his sons Ryan Foley, Brian Foley, his daughter-in-law Linda, and two grandchildren - Zoe and Mason Foley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and Ambrose Foley, his sister Janice Boyer, as well as his oldest son, Mark Foley. His sister Georgiana Lunt lives in NC with her daughter and family.
His wishes were that we would not be burdened or saddened by his passing but that we celebrate his life and our own lives. He especially wanted us all to live in the present moment and to appreciate the natural beauty that God has placed all around us. His love, kindness, humor, and wisdom will continue as a positive force through all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A family service will be held at a later date and at that time he will be laid to rest at Pine view Cemetery in Queensbury, NY. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
