Jane M. Carpenter, 97, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Born Mar. 29, 1920, in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Bowman) Bennett.

She graduated from Fort Edward High School in 1937 and was a communicant of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Fort Edward.

Jane married James Carpenter in 1949 and her main love was spending time with her family and her friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Carpenter; her brother, Harold Bennett; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Carpenter, her great granddaughter, Hope Carpenter.

Survivors include her children, Joseph Carpenter and partner, Anne Lemery of Fort Edward, James Carpenter and his wife, Cathy, of Rochester, and Jane Carpenter Cohn and her husband, Jeffrey, of Boulder, CO.; her grandchildren: Joseph Carpenter Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Moreau, Michelle Powell and her husband, Chad of Covington, Ga., Katie Carpenter and partner Mike Baldwin of Glens Falls, and Nicole Carpenter and her fiancé, Steve Cardarelli of Cleveland, OH, and Amanda Proctor and her husband, Adam of Greece, NY; her great-grandchildren, Kennedy Cronin and her husband Mike, Sheldon and Ryley Carpenter, Damian Tyler, Devin Carpenter, Brady Proctor, Brooklyn Proctor and Penelope Baldwin; her great-great grandchild, Mason Cronin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at St. Joseph Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward.

The Rite of committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Edward.
