Obituary for Margaret D. Gillis (Durller)

FORT EDWARD

Margaret (Durller) Gillis, 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY.

Born January 15, 1946 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph William and Margaret (Malloly) Durller.

Margaret graduated from Fort Edward High School in 1963. On October 1, 1965, she married the love of her life, Lawrence Kenneth Gillis at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward, where they raised their family until his passing in 2010.

Margaret enjoyed reading, bike riding, camping up north, country music, bluegrass festivals, and was an avid Yankees fan. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She loved watching them play sports, had fun playing cards with them, and spent as much time with them as she could.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Stephen Gillis (Kate), Todd Gillis, and Scott Gillis(Laura), her grandchildren; Kyle, Shelby, Tim, Logan, Aidan, and Ryan Gillis, her brothers; James Durller(Melinda), and George Durller (Margaret), her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Theresa Gillis, her sister-in-law Sandra Wilkins, as well as several nieces and nephews.

At Margaret’s request there will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church, 15 Maplewood Parkway, South Glens Falls, NY 12803 with Rev. Bill Puckey officiating.
