SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Robert A. Buser Sr., 82 passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Dad was born on July 29, 1934 to the late Edward and Anna (Saltys) Buser Sr. at New York Hospital in New York City. He lived in Manhattan and attended Commerce High School. Dad enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May of 1952 and served aboard the U.S.S. LST 883. His ship transported Korean POWs during the Korean War. He received the Korean Defense Medal with one Battle Star, the National Defense Medal, The United Nations Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, the Korean War Medal, and The Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Medal. He received his honorable discharge in May of 1960.

Dad worked at Conover-Mast Publication in NYC where he met his future wife Rena M. Loughan. They were married on November 17, 1962 in Poultney, VT where Rena grew up. They moved to Poultney in September 1965 to help with the family.

Dad went to work as a laborer with Finch Pruyn in May of 1966. He retired on December 1, 1996 as the safety director. He was a Little League coach for his sons Bob and Rick.

He was a member and past commander of the Fort Edward American Legion Post 1133. He was also a member of the VFW Post 6196 in Queensbury as well as a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 296 in Hudson Falls. He was a member of the First Degree team that won the New York State Championship. He was also a life member and past faithful navigator of the Fourth Degree Arthur S. Kiffen Assembly 752. Dad was also a former district deputy for the capital district Knights of Columbus. He was also a life member and past president of the Hudson Falls Fire Department. He was a member and past president of the Cooper’s Cave Federal Union. He was also a mentor at Moreau Elementary School.

He enjoyed driving his grandchildren to school, games and practices as he loved teasing them. He looked forward to Sunday dinner with the family with the twenty-four of us. He enjoyed going to wings and beer on Wednesdays. He was an avid Yankees and Giants fan. He used to see Joe DiMaggio and all the Yankees, paid sixty cents to sit in the bleachers, and saw two games on Sundays. Dad loved talking trash while playing golf except when he went to his nephew Jamie’s golf course (Lee’s Hill) in Fredericksburg,VA. As you know, Dad liked Miller Lite and would like you to have a cold one for him.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Robyn Weinberger (Shawn), Bob Buser Jr. (Diane), Rick Buser (Francine), and Randee Buser (Kirk), his 16 grandchildren; Jordan, Shawn, Seth, Noah, Ethan, Josh, Ryan, Ally, Zack, Ricky, Felicia, Mariah, Brandon, Andy, Megyn, and Mason, as well as his sister Carol Flaherty (Bob).

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls, NY 12803 with Rev Guy A. Childs officiating.

Rite of Committal with military honors with take place at 1:30pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY.
