Obituary for Patricia Carol Petteys (Linendoll)

Patricia Carol Petteys (Linendoll)
GANSEVOORT

Patricia C. (Linendoll) Petteys went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 24, 2017 after having Alzheimer’s disease.

Born August 1, 1938 on West River Road in Gansevoort, she was the daughter of Edmond and Anna (Washburn) Linendoll.

Pat attended Fort Edward School until her sophomore year in which she opted to transfer to Schuylerville where she graduated.

On November 13, 1955, she married the love of her life, Glenn Petteys Sr., in Poultney, Vt. They were married for 62 years. On their 50th anniversary they renewed their vows with a full ceremony attended by all of their family and friends.

Together they raised their four children and enjoyed spending time with their nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. They could often be found at their sporting events and school functions.

Pat worked as a therapy aide many years on Mt. McGregor, Wilton Developmental Center, and in several community homes.

Her faith was very important to her as she accepted Jesus as her Savior as a young child. She led her children to church and guided them to find Jesus as their Savior also. She was known to her family as a strong leader and a prayer warrior as they would all ask her to pray when they needed special prayers.

Pat and Glenn together organized the “Seasoned Citizens” group at their church, Pine Knolls Alliance Church in SGF. She also organized many outings for their antique car clubs. They could always be found at the local parades with their grandchildren in the rumble seat of their Model A. They were members of the Model A Club, Coopers Cave Club, and the Back Road Gang.

Pat was known to be a wonderful housekeeper and was always sending food to someone in need. She loved to fish on the river with her cousin Joyce Wells. She enjoyed her home on the river and was brokenhearted when the Farms First group lost their battle against the sludge dump and due to health reasons she had to relocate.

Pat and Glenn traveled to many locations after retiring. They owned a home in Florida and enjoyed traveling to numerous Navy reunions, helped with Hurricane Katrina Relief, and visited California, Hawaii, the Grand Ole Opry, and Branson, MO to name a few.

In 2016, Pat was severely afflicted with Alzheimer’s and moved to a full care facility at Fort Hudson where she was near all her children. The family wishes to thank all the staff there for her wonderful care.
Pat is survived by her loving husband Glenn Petteys, her four children; Glenn Petteys Jr. (Brenda), Karen Rice (Walter), Shelley White (Pete), and Christopher Petteys (Ruth), her nine grandchildren; Leah Mandolare, Joshua and Dylan Lloyd, Jeremiah and Nathan Petteys, Peter and Jaclyn White, and Jessica and Christopher Petteys Jr., her seven great-grandchildren; Kylie Bruce, Gwen Bovin, Gavin Lloyd, Hudson and Lyncoln Petteys, Zoelle’ Petteys, and Parker White, as well as her brother Edmond Linendoll Jr. who was very dear to her.

Friends may call from 4-6pm on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Rd, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Burial will follow the funeral at 1pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY.

Memorial donations in Pat’s name can be made to the Open Door Soup Kitchen, 47 Lawrence Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
