Fort Edward
James H. Godfrey Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Fort Edward, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on May 8, 1932 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Fred H. Sr. and Beatrice (Cameron) Godfrey.

James was a 1950 graduate of Fort Edward High School and worked as a mechanic for Scott Paper for 43 years until his retirement in 1992.

On April 29, 1951, he married Jane Elizabeth Mullen, in St. Joseph Church, Fort Edward. They spent 52 years together until her passing in 2003.

James was a man with a variety of interests which include, camping, fishing, hunting, boating, sports and he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He really enjoyed life and was a very helpful man to anyone who needed it.

In addition to his parents and wife, James was predeceased by his brothers; Fred H. Godfrey Jr., Kenneth J. Godfrey, and Lawrence C. Godfrey, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law who were very special to him.

Left to cherish his memory include his two sons; James H. Godfrey Jr. and Cheryl Godfrey of Plattsburg, and Thomas Godfrey and his wife, Linda of Fort Edward, his four grandchildren; Lindsay Farnsworth and her husband, Sonny, Sarah Schutts and her husband, Steve, Ian Godfrey and his wife, Ashley, and Emily Boucher and her husband, Matt, his great- grandchildren, Elle and Matthew Boucher, his sisters, Katherine Maziejka and her husband, Stanley, Alice Savasta and Beatrice Nichols, his sisters-in-law, Joan Mullen and Shirley Havens, a special niece, Karen Anderson and her three children, Craig, Colleen and Collin, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At James request there will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Church, Fort Edward.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Edward.
