Leona May (Winney) Adams, 76, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord October 20, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital after a long courageous battle.

Born October 4, 1941 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Murray) Winney.

Leona married the love of her life, the late Jack Leland Adams, on June 6, 1975 and together they raised their family until his passing in 1989.

Leona enjoyed playing games on her computer, Bingo, and had looked forward to traveling back to Maine. She particularly enjoyed spending holidays with Marie, Susie and Phil. She loved spending time with her family. Leona always had a kind and thoughtful word for everyone, especially for the nurses that cared for her during her illness.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Leona is predeceased by her sons, John Leland Adams and Michael Shane Adams, her brothers; Robert Winney Jr., Nathan Winney, Ronald Winney, Vaughn Winney, Arthur Winney Sr., Randy Winney, Robert Winney Sr., and Joseph Winney, her sisters, Diane Winney and Marie Drew and her husband John, and her sister-in-law Emma Winney.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Mickey Genier and his wife Sherry, her daughters-in-law, Erica Adams and Halana Judkins and her son Liam, her grandchildren; Brian Genier and his wife Sarah, Brittany Schroeck and her husband Adam, Trinity Adams, Cody Adams, Cameron, Brody, and Ashton Sullivan, her great-grandson Noah Schroeck, her brothers; Charles Winney and his wife Elaine, Bernie Jackson, Rocky Jackson and his wife Vicki, Clarence Winney and his wife Nancy, Roy Winney, and Clifford Winney and his wife Tonia, her sisters; Sharron Blackbird, Judy Berby and her husband Henry, Bertha Sumner and her husband Steve, May Millington and her husband Edward, and Tina Rivers and her companion Al Brunelle, her sister-in-law Betty Winney, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call from 4-7pm on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A funeral service will follow calling hours at 7pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff on 3W at Glens Falls Hospital. You let us make room 16 our home for the last month. The family is beyond thankful for how you took care of not only Leona but all of them. A special thanks to Maddie, Cliff and Shannon who have been there from the start. Thanks to Jessica for staying with Leona when we had to leave.
