Sherrill “Jerry” Eggleston, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Stanton Nursing Home with his family by his side.

Born on January 25, 1930 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Elmer and Alice (Cossey) Eggleston.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War conflict, stationed in Austria. While being a bridge engineer in the Army he was also a sharp shooter. On August 14, 1955, Jerry married Joyce Harris in Lake George. They spent 57 years together until her passing on April 10, 2013. Jerry retired from Scott Paper after many years of service.

Jerry was a devoted husband and father who provided for his family. He was an avid outdoorsman and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry is predeceased by his four brothers, Elmer, Kenneth, Floyd and Lawrence; and his one sister, Lois.

Left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Heidi (William) MacDuff; his son, Wesley (Stacy) Eggleston; his grandchildren, Sarah, Jessie (Charles), Bradley (Kathleen), Jade, and Audrie (Mel); his brother, David; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Jerry’s request there will be no calling hours.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
